- Chris managed to mumble something about Re: A1200 Power Supply [Questions]
- > Sure, it's okay to use an A500 power supply with the A1200.
-
- I did for a while, it works fine
-

-
- Build yourself one! Get hold of a PC PSU, they are about 5-10UKP secondhand.
- Then connect the wires up correctly. Using a multimeter, check which colour
- wire goes to which pin on the psu plug, which you'll need to chop off the old
- Ami PSU. There won't be an earth there, you'll need to run some wire from the
- bare screen wire to the earthing point on the inside of the PSU, but all the
- other voltages will be present on the two main looms.

- Screen(bare)-----| o o |------+5v(usually red)
- '-------------'
- Looking *into* the plug, pins facing you.
-
- Then connect up as follows, using a multimeter to check the colours are the
- same:
- Amiga PC Voltage
- -------------------------------------------
- White Blue -12v
- Black Black 0v
- Red Red 5v
- Brown/Blue Yellow +12v
- Screen Wire to Earth Earth
-
- Please check it, wrong wiring will send your A1200 to the great CPU in the
- sky, but my PSu in the tower case is working great, which just goes to show
- that you can trust the colours alone!
-
- But I don't accept any responsibility for damage to
- psu/computer/family/freinds/eco-system/anything else which results from using
- this well-tested hack.
-
- Happy hacking
